The mic plug on my Heil K2 proset is mono. And it work just fine.
My cheap radio shack "computer headset" works just fine, too.
The "ring" terminal on the jack is not connected, so you can safely use
a MONO (i.e., single channel) or a STEREO (dual channel) connector, as
long as it is the correct diameter.
