Brian, When going to the one digit tuning you are in coarse tuning mode and you should expect that result. Please check you RATE button while in 2-digit tuning. When you tap rate either the 100-Hz digit will flash or the 10-Hz digit. When in the 10- Hz tuning mode it will sound much smoother.
