Unfortunately the mic I bought is the regular 444, high impedance. Can
the K3 work OK with it?

Yes, I use a Shure 444D from time to time with mine (I usually use a
cheap computer headset – which is very convenient and works very
well!) and the audio reports with the 444D are awesome with all EQ
values set to zero (default). Be sure to switch the 444D to the “Low
Impedance” setting (bottom of mic) and adjust the K3’s audio gain
accordingly. If you get a 444 that is ONLY “High Impedance” (don’t
remember if the original 444 was switchable) – or – you don’t set the
switch on the bottom of the mic to “Low Impedance,” – it will sound
muddy, muffled and like crap!
Wire the mic plug as per the K3 manual.

*Subject:* [Elecraft] Order is in! Also Shure 444 question
My order is in!
Is anyone on the list using the Shure 444 desk mic with the K3? Can
you share some wiring and/or rig setup tips?
