I wasn't hearing the noise at all and was "maybe" barely hearing the noise w/ no antenna connected. I don't think I'd have noticed it unless someone told me to look though...
There will be no unintended results as long as you carry out the mod as intended. Good luck! I've installed (and tested) the receiver protection mod and it works a trick!
