Brian, It works for me. Be aware that there are several 'devices' that can be detected by K3 Utility that are not actually a K3 (printer, scanner, many others). In these cases, the Port Test will work because the device echoes something to K3 Utility. This is especially true if you are using a USB to serial converter - Windows sometimes gets the ports mixed up. To confirm that the port you have selected in K3 Utility is really the COM port that is connected to the K3, go to the Command window and type in some mundane command - like "k3;" - if the K3 responds, you have the correct port selected, otherwise, go to device manager and sort out which com ports are configured.
I just tried it here using K3 Utility 1.2.8.10 and my K3 loaded with 3.41/2.37 firmware.
