I think I know what might have caused this. After you save configuration, the K3 Utility retains the folder name of your last-saved location as the default place to start "next time". If that's not a valid folder at the time of the next save (which it might not be if the USB drive is no longer there, or in a different location), the windows folder dialog fails with an invalid starting location.
I've just added code in 1.2.10.6 (not yet released) that will try once to use the last-used folder, and if that fails, will restore the configuration folder to its default location.
