That's the disconnect. The K3 Utility does create the "default" folder to receive firmware. You get to that folder by pressing the "Default" button.
The expectation was that most of the time people would be using that folder. There's also a capability to navigate to other existing folders. However the K3 Utility doesn't create any folders except the default firmware and configuration folders. It's a useful suggestion for the K3 Utility to have the ability to create a folder if one is named and doesn't exist. In a subsequent K3 Utility version I'll add the ability to create a folder if the one you name isn't found.
