I also lost an audio output chip last year when an
unexpectedly LOUD SSB signal appeared during
a roundtable QSO.appeared. Heard a part of a
syllable, a pop and then silence.
Was sent a replacement chip immediately.
Your phones ... and their plug ... -are- stereo, aren't
they?
