Jim, Your last post indicated that you were using a SignalLink to drive the K3. The transmit audio level from the Signallink is attenuated for driving a microphone input - if you are using the K3 Line Input, there may not be adequate drive.
The K3 Line Input level expects a level that is available from a normal soundcard Line Out. The SignalLink provides Mic Level output which is a much lower level. Try plugging the Signallink into the rear mic input (set the K3 Mic sel accordingly), and see if you can obtain good transmit audio. If so, then your Signallink audio level must be increased to allow use of the Line Input on the K3.
