You can try it with qemu-kvm .
The first thing is to add some extra space to the image:

 sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=MediaBox.i686-0.0.1.raw bs=1 count=1
conv=notrunc seek=3G

and then started by:

qemu-kvm MediaBox.i686-0.0.1.raw

provided that MediaBox.i686-0.0.1.raw is the image.

This macmini, which graphic card do they have?

Hi Jordi,

I really meant to try it the other weekend but unfortunately I just did not have a spare machine that I could wipe out clean anymore.. Do you have any idea of how I could test it without such a machine? Maybe a virtual machine? In any case I will have at my disposal one of the new macmini soon which makes an excellent mediacenter box.

Just asking it again... any feedback? You have the opportunity now that
we make some changes to it according to your feedback before we publish
it. This way when we publish will be more of your taste.

thanks!

Hi Jordi!

Of course I remember you! This is just awesome news! I am sure everyone is excited to try it out and give some feedback. I will be doing that myself very likely this week-end. Does it contain proprietary drivers for ATI and nVidia? If so, how does it handle installing the right version of these drivers?

Thanks a lot Jordi .. and James! I hope you are doing well.

Hi Florian! How is it going?

You remember, me right? I was on Thomas team about nine months ago. Did not see
you at FOSDEM this year.

James (who I am cc'ing), a collegue at Novell at the Suse Studio team, has made
a media center appliance
based on Elisa and openSUSE. It has been done with Suse Studio, a web application for making appliances based on SUSE.

If you'd like to give it a try, you can download it from
http://snorp.net.nyud.net/files/Elisa_Media_Center-0.0.1.oem.tar.gz
After downloading it you can make a USB Stick from it,
just make a "dd if=Elisa_Media_Center-0.0.1.oem.tar.gz of=A" where A is your
USB Stick device (i.e. /dev/sdc).

It would be great to get some feedback on it.

I am cc'ing the elisa list so anyone who wants can try it, too. Actually would
be great to get as much feedback
as possible so we can improve Studio to get the best appliances people need.

greetings,

jordi
