Discourse is getting pretty large and well used now. Elixir also uses Discourse (and is quite friendly to Elm conversation as well) as an example: https://elixirforum.com/ Discourse is highly recommended. Once set up properly it can still be used like a mailing list, or as a forum front-end, or in a variety of other ways (thanks to its open JSON api).
