No, *this specific* request is only tangentially related to Org mode being (or not being) an official GNU project. He simply asked to avoid injustice of forcing people to run non-free software in a form of non-free JS at reddit and other similar platforms linked from WORG. He did not ask to remove the links, but asked to look for a workaround. That's precisely what this thread is about. That said, there is an ongoing non-public discussion about possibility for Org mode to become an official GNU project. And the topic of links in WORG did raise during that discussion. As of now, I am still clarifying what it would mean to be a GNU project, and cannot start any grounded discussion on the topic with the Org community. If you are curious, here is a quote from one of my earlier emails to Bastien >>> You may recall I asked you whether it is ok if Org mode becomes a GNU >>> project. I then brought that topic to Emacs maintainers and later to >>> RMS. We have been discussing what would be necessary to do it and what >>> would be the changes we need to do in order to become a GNU project. >>> >>> That discussion is not yet over as I still have questions to RMS on >>> several subjects <...> >>> I also planned to discuss this in public before the final decision is >>> made. -- Ihor Radchenko // yantar92, Org mode maintainer, Learn more about Org mode at <https://orgmode.org/>.
