Speaking of mirrors: https://codeberg.org/{org-mode,orgmode} are both still free. Following the same reasoning, would it make sense setting foot there as well? I hope that for Codeberg there are no licensing concerns.

Maybe. Codeberg is endorsed by FSF.
But, on the other hand, it raises a question why would we need
it. Should we try to own a place for every forge out there? That sounds
like unnecessary burden.

I don't want to steal further bandwidth from you about this topic, I just had this thought about "reserving" the handle on a FOSS platform and wanted to also hear from other members of the community.
