>Great explanation, Chris, thank you. It needs outgoing authentication, >which I assume is STMP and not POP.
Yes, SMTP is outbound... BUT, some SMTP servers allow you to do POP Authentication. That is, when you connect to collect email, the POP server records your IP address, and passes it to the SMTP server, which then allows a non authenticated connection from that IP address for a limited time (usually between 30 seconds and 30 minutes). It is always worth trying that manner first, since Emailer can do it directly. >So, finally I understand - that's what Baton mail is all about?! > >Where do I find out more about Baton mail? you can download the latest version of Baton Mail from my web site. Check <www.mythtech.net/baton.html> Be aware that there is a serious bug in Baton Mail that prevents you from sending attachments of any great size. I am currently working on moving Baton Mail to a different programming language so I can get around this bug. I just haven't had much free time (and what little I did have will vanish even more in June when I start Fire 2 classes), so I don't have any idea of an ETA on a new version being released. But at least the current version more or less works, and is free, so even if you can't use it, you didn't waste any money finding that out. -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
