If Temp Reader detects either of the problems it knows how to fix, it
will tell you that the message is damaged and ask if you want to fix it.

If it didn't ask you, it wasn't damaged (at least not in either of the
ways that Temp Reader knows about).

Two other things to try. 1: trash the preferences for Emailer (why?
because trashing prefs is always a good place to start when you can't
figure out why an app is doing something screwy). Don't worry, there is
nothing major stored in the prefs file (all your accounts and other info
are either in the Mail Database, or in files of their own).

2: shutdown and restart classic. Don't just restart classic, but do a
full shutdown of classic, wait until it stops and is off, then click the
start up button to bring it back up (this is all from the Classic control
panel).

Despite my numbering, try #2 first, if that doesn't work, then do #1, and
if that doesn't work... um... do you have a voodoo doll of your computer
you can use?
