In my case what was broken was the little peice that activates the defrost heater (I'm not a fridge mechanic, so I don't know what it is called... I had my Brother-in-law look at it who works on HVAC so has some clue about these things). So the heater was stuck on... makes for a very useless fridge (but a nice food warmer). And you people thought we could just go off topic with other Mac related stuff...
