Third, even if the modem reports that it connected at XKbps, it does not mean that it is actually capable of holding sustained communication at that speed. I have my primary account (this one) set to 9K; and, about the only time that a message gets partially downloaded is when it has an attachment (something that I abhor in any case, and actively discourage). On another, where I receive auto-generated reports, etc., I have it set to 33K (I started at 32K and found 33K to be perfect - no partially downloaded messages). The other accounts are between 4K and 15K.
