This is a strange one. Moved two PB1400's frm NY to Florida. CE was working fine on both machines in NY.
Changed the aol access phone number in CE (2.5v3) on both. Changed nothing else. My PB is connecting fine w/aol via CE. But now my wife's CE (exact same configuration as mine) is having intermittent problems. The modem dials aol's access number - but it then hangs and eventually she gets a timeout message. "Dialing" appears in the connection status window - we hear the modem dialing, but usually that's as far as she gets before a timeout. She connects sometimes and gets her messages - but more often, she has a problem. CE on my machine connects with aol and gets messages without fail. NO intermittent problems whatsoever. Here's what we have tried: Switched my modem with her's - no change. Tried using my phone jack. No change. Ran Disk Warrior. Found no problems. Rebuilt CE's data base. Nothing in the temp Incoming folder. Tried conflict testing (using Conflict Catcher). No villain. Tried changing modem types and access numbers. No change. She tried connecting to aol using their software - fine. So apparently it's not aol's problem (particularly since CE on my machine is working fine w/aol). She also connects and gets messages with CE from att.net just fine - so her problem is unique to CE and aol. Internet access on her machine is working fine. So it's not her phone line. Again, I have looked for ANY difference in my CE settings as compared to hers. ALL settings appear to be exactly the same. Why is she having problems when I'm not? Many thanks! ___________________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe send a mail message with a SUBJECT line of "unsubscribe" to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> or <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
