What exact version of OSX is this? What version of the HP drivers? There
was at least one version that had major problems with HP printer drivers.
I think it was 10.2.2, but I forget. People reported the whole computer
slowed down until it was unusable.

You will probably need a different version of the HP software, or a
different version os Mac OS X. Check versionTracker.com or Hp.com for
updates & reassurances that whatever the issue has been dealt with.

I would NOT reinstall that HP software before researching it first.

If you are using Mac OS 10.2.2 (only, not 10.2.3) you might get some help
from "DealWithHp"
http://www.terraform.com/software/ It toggles on & off the HP Photosmart
software. But I don't think it's going to save you from a blue screen.

If you're able to boot ok you should open the applications folder, open
the Utilities folder, & run the Disk Utility - under the "First Aid"
section there is "Repair permissions" you need to run that after
installing software, and every so often.

I would definitely use Carbon Copy Cloner to back up the OS X "system"
folder to another drive before installing.

Oh, and Claris Emailer probably won't give you any trouble, but expect
the worst from Hp printer drivers.

Hope this helps.
