If I recall correctly, the OS9 Helper page says that some users noticed significant performance improvements in 9.2 concerning network, Finder, sleep/wake up. >I'm sure there are some feature enhancements with OS >9, like being able to run iTunes, but I can't think of many. Many applications now require CarbonLib, which can be added to 8.6, but a few require OS 9. There are many minor improvements too, like the left arrow selecting the parent folder of the currently selected item in a Finder list (OS X doesn't do that yet, which is extremely annoying since its lists are much slower and fatter). iTunes CAN run under 8.6 (works on my 6400).
