I'm coming late to this (sorry, business went to hell, so I've been 
ignoring much of my email), so maybe this has already been suggested.

Make sure that the folder the Emailer application is stored in is NOT 
named "Claris Emailer" or any other name that matches the name of the 
Emailer application file.

Just append the world "Folder" to the folder name should ensure that the 
name is different.

OS X has a problem opening some Classic apps that carry the same name as 
the enclosing folder. I think is has something to do with it getting 
confused and thinking it is a package file rather than a folder... or 
something like that. I just know its a recommended no no.
