If Apple's Drive Setup can see the drive AND it is an Apple ROM'd drive 
(did it come with the Mac originally), then you can try updating the 
disks driver. In Drive Setup, there is a choice to do that in one of the 
menus. However, it will only work with Apple ROM'd SCSI drives, it will 
not work with 3rd party SCSI drives.
