True, but fortunatly, some other mail clients will either not allow the 
text formatting when in plain text mode, or will ignore it and send a 
plain text version when the user actually sends the email.

AOL doesn't give warning that you are dropping out of plain text mode, 
and it doesn't override the formatting and send just plain text. Some AOL 
users don't realize this, so they think that because they followed the 
directions to send plain text, that regardless of what they now change, 
plain text will still be sent. That is where it can lead to confusion.
