If you have your preferences set to leave mail on the server
for some reason - and you have multiple accounts - you can
easily set up a situation that can look like multiple
unpacking. I've done this to myself a few times.
I have multiple accounts that I use for purposes of putting
different return addresses on the messages I send. They all
send (and fetch, if allowed) via the same account. I can
set up my schedules so that they will all send the mail, but
only one of the accounts collects it. That's all fine, so
far...
The mistake I've made sometimes is that I fail to change my
"Connect Now..." set-up. I don't use it often, so - some days
later - I'll do an immediate send of a message. Next thing I
know, there are multiple copies of all the new messages. This
happens because each of my multiple "send" accounts also "gets"
messages... and each "get" unpacks. This can happen because I
choose to leave my email on the server for a few days, and it's
there for the subsequent "gets" by extra accounts.
(This problem highlights one of eMailer's shortcomings...
The "Connect Now" routine does not *allow* "sending" from an
account without also "getting" from it.)
The secret to staying calm in a crisis
is in not knowing all the facts.
