I'm not sure about the significance of my experience, but given all the posts about DSL versus Cable, I thought I'd pass it along for what its worth. The only broadband I've had has been Cox Cable. Its faster than hell compared to my dialup services. Could DSL be faster? Perhaps so, but I recall doing some sort of search that indicated that I might be too far from the telephone company switch. Cox has never put any limitations on me, but of course I haven't tried to run a server. Has Cox had a few problems? Yes, but far fewer than any of my dialup services. After I got Cox, I recall reading about huge problems experienced by DSL subscribers in my area- things like extremely long periods before they could get hooked up, and then lots of technical problems, and I recall feeling smug about my choice of cable. This has been an entirely unscientific treatise on Cable vs. DSL, but I offer it just to show one example of a person who does not seem to have suffered all the downsides mentioned in the posts in this thread.
