Doug, Throw it away and do not give yourself a bit of concern... even if you DO have a CitiBank account. This is a "phishing" e-mail (I may be mis-using the term). The web site you went to, though official looking, is a scam to get you to reveal personal information that identity thieves can then use. I've so far seen this ploy from Wells Fargo, CitiBank, and USBank. If your bank REALLY needed to contact you, they would most likely do it via letter and would have you log onto their normal web-site plus give you a contact phone number, etc.
In these days of security paranoia (not necessarily unfounded), the bad guys have rediscovered an old ploy: act like the good guys and prey on people's trust. some good info can be found at: <http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/scams/citibank3.asp> -Doug Starkey Wasn't it [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] who once said... >Date: Tue, 2 Nov 2004 12:08:45 -0500 >From: Doug McAdam <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Subject: What to do with message > > >I just received a message from CitiBank with the information that their >customers are being acccessed for identity theft and they provide an >URL for me to contact to register and confirm my banking details, etc. >However the URL did not work and I went to their Home site and found an >email address to report fraud messages, etc. I tried to do a Copy of >the email address but it was in faint blue and would not copy.
