Well, as I am using a new G5 Dual 1.8 w/10.4.1 I added my LW 16/600 printer as an AppleTalk printer and printed directly to it just fine, so AppleTalk is working fine here. Originally I had added the same printer as an IP printer. As for file sharing, I am not sure how the file sharing is made but I believe it is over IP. Go figure.
