Hi Chris -

I use Emailer to support about ten mail accounts for three family
members, including three AOL addresses, two accounts with my ISP and
various POP accounts. My problems began over a year ago when outgoing AOL
traffic was allowed only if there was incoming activity. ("Reading 1 of
0...no messages waiting" error) I tried using the authentication patch
but it didn't seem to fix the problem. I'm using a local ISP.

Mail Forward has been a pretty clean solution. I hide it in the dock so
that other users don't inadvertently close the active window. It supports
our recently-added gMail accounts

I'm not really anticipating the demise of Emailer - at least not for
another 5+ years. But I am trying to get comfortable with PowerMail -
just in case - after trying most of the other currently available mail
clients.

AOL still works for me as a general-purpose mail/internet solution when
traveling, although need for dialup access certainly is decreasing, and
the cost is mitigated slightly by my "charter member" discount!

Joe
