I've just answered that, above.
I never turn my computers off except when I have to do work inside, such 
as replacing a Hard Drive every 3 years.

I suppose now you'll ask "how often should I replace a Hard Drive?" and 
I'll have to reply "I recommend you do this every 3 years, as I do". Then 
you'll ask "why every 3 years?" and I'll reply "Because experience has 
shown that modern Hard Drives usually fail some time after 3 years and I 
want to minimise the risk of inconvenient down-time and file-loss, so I 
plan ahead."
