Well, I am in the midst of transferring over User files from my (Seagate) external to my brand new Western Digital internal - which so far (knock on my noggen) seems to be operating properly.
The faulty one that was removed was a Seagate. But my friendly Apple guy thought it was most likely a firmware problem as opposed to a hardware problem - which is why he installed another brand. Make sense to you? BTW, Migration Assistant didn't even recognize the Desktop folder (on its own partition) - I guess because it didn't contain system files? So I am booted into Laptop and using its copy of Super Duper to copy files over. Simply dragging the files over didn't work (as usual) due to incomplete file permissions. Thanks again for always being willing to share your knowledge!
