I created a 0-byte emc/usr_intf/shcom.cc and added it to the EMCRSHSRCS
line:
--- emc/usr_intf/Submakefile 7 Sep 2006 12:35:59 -0000 1.13
+++ emc/usr_intf/Submakefile 25 Jan 2007 16:35:49 -0000

It compiled and linked:
$ touch emc/usr_intf/shcom.cc
$ make
Depending emc/usr_intf/shcom.cc
Compiling emc/usr_intf/shcom.cc
Linking emcrsh
That should be the only thing necessary. Did you double check to make
sure you created this source file where you intended to, and gave it the
right extension?
