Actually, forget all that, there might be an easier way.

It would probably be sufficient to add an offset to the A-axis
position command every servo cycle. This offset could be a G-Code
analog output, or from the S command.

However, as was just pointed out on IRC, in lathe-mode I guess you
want to use the S-word for the milling spindle speed? Or does the
machine use conventional static lathe tools?
