I can't speak for Michael, but I have used libmodbus3 to mean libmodbus v3.0.x as opposed to any of the v2 versions because they seem to be significantly different. I have no experience with libmodbus5 because I assume one needs Precise to load it. Currently I just download the v3.0.2 generic source: http://libmodbus.org/download/ into my home/libmodbus3 directory and locally "make" and "sudo make install", which is easy enough for this caveman. I always forget to finish with an "ldconfig" but I eventually figure it out. My user comps compile and run fine this way, so I just plan on including this information on all of the Modbus comps I make (all of one needed so far). It looks like the next LTS Ubuntu isn't due for quite a while, so my guess has been that standard LinuxCNC won't normally be installing libmodbus v3.0 until then. -- Kirk Wallace http://www.wallacecompany.com/machine_shop/ http://www.wallacecompany.com/E45/index.html California, USA ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This SF email is sponsosred by: Try Windows Azure free for 90 days Click Here http://p.sf.net/sfu/sfd2d-msazure _______________________________________________ Emc-developers mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-developers
