I looks like what Steptools does is write the software that fills in
between current CAM software and popular CNC controllers, or rather 
CAM -> AP-238 -> CNC Controller AP-238 interface module -> Controller ?

I noticed Steptools has an open source program for writing AP-238 files:

I was able to run the sample program but I don't know enough to
