There is just one "tiny and insignificant" problem: I guess that there is no way to obtain some true numbers, how many of all LinuxCNC machines have software step generation, but my guess is that there are many (I am responsible for one of them). And that would mean telling them - keep on using soon-to-be-released LinuxCNC 2.5.0 forever or find another cnc-controller (not hard to guess, what is going to be the choice no 1).
