I have scratched myhead some more, this is my take on the user / operator side of things . . . . (And to me this is the bottom line, although it might not produce elegant code)
Jogging in joint mode would only be used in practice to move off a physical limit condition. Like a hardware switch or where the travel limit of the joints is limited in software. For inspecting during machining and for setting up a job you definitely need to jog in coordinate mode. And even for measuring length of a cutter by 'touching off' you need coordinate mode. Unless someone has additional examples of practical use . . . . .? j.
