Michael Haberler has guided me through installing xenomai on a computer I have
here and I wanted to post my results from the latency-test.
Intel Desktop Board D94GCLF2D (purchased from Newegg several years ago).
In Bios- Intel Hyper-Threading Technology- Disabled
Running on Linux Mint Maya - headless over ssh on my network- I don't plan on
running Axis or any UI on this machine- it will be a linuxcnc server in the
back cabinet of a VMC running a servo setup (later). This machine just boots to
console and is accessed via ssh.
uname -a
Linux RubenVMC 3.5.7-xenomai-2.6.2.1 #1 SMP Sat Feb 9 15:03:06 CST
2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Servo Thread Max Interval 1019549 Max Jitter 19549
Base Thread Max Interval 42236 Max Jitter 21158
Michael instructed me to set 'idle=poll' in /etc/default/grub (then run sudo
update-grub2) and check the results. I ran latency-test again. At first I
thought it looked better, but after running it for 5 minutes or so, it gave
very very similar results:
Servo Thread Max Interval 1019786 Max Jitter 19786
Base Thread Max Interval 40357 Max Jitter 21120
