And FWIW, I too am an ex biker, with about 3/4 million klicks on my 2 wheeled mileage clock. Plumb wore out a series of medium sized Honda's, one KZ750 kawi & eventually sold my last 1 liter Suzi to one of my kids when I reached the conclusion that my reflexes were slowing and it was time to put on a cage for good. Besides, she wasn't shooting at him, she was shooting at the beer can. The fact that it was in his hand at the time had little to do with it. I had another incident there after she had died and I was trying to raise our 3 kids by myself. I'd run off a drunk, but he stopped halfway down the driveway to relieve himself, and I dumped a 158 grain gas checked 30 cal running about 1100 fps into the puddle just to encourage his leaving promptly. In due time a deputy showed up and asked if I had been shooting at the guy, and I said no, because if I had been shooting at him, you would have needed a body bag. He had to laugh at that but said it wasn't really the thing to do, and that I probably shouldn't do it again. I asked "since it took 45 minutes for you to get here, during which time I'm supposed to let them do whatever? Tain't gonna happen.." I explained the situation vis-a-vis me & the kids, and he left without telling me much else except where the fish were biting. I took the kids along and checked it out a couple days later, and added that spot to my emergency trout for dinner supply list.
