I understand, it just seems that there is no reasonable solution to fix everything license wise. I'd be tempted to clean things up as good as possible and try and push everything through the Debian distribution validation process and see where it gets kicked out. I don't know how hard they push back when things are not correct, but is that an option? Let them tell us where it doesn't conform sufficiently? Maybe if they are having a good day they will just push the approved button and let us go on our way?? (One can dream...)
