Mssr. Rible sent a .so file and also the whole source to build
it from. I did so, but had to add a couple dependencies for
-dev packages. Then it built, and the util.crop function was
available. Zooming in by about 2 or 3:1 seems to give
reasonable resolution. It is apparently using jpg compression
in the path so that the original camera pixels are not obvious.
But, it works. I bored out my adapter to 1/2" so the 11mm
camera has enough clearance to be moved on center, and
then tweaked the setscrews to get it centered well. I'd say
it will probably be at least as accurate as an import edge
finder. I never totally trusted those things, anyway, as
I never understood how they worked.

The convert_crop.so file is at
http://pico-systems.com/codes/convert_crop.so

This is only for 10.04 Ubuntu LinuxCNC systems, as far
as I know. Copy the file to /usr/lib/camunits
