I still don't actually understand the question, but "progress" is the
position along the current motion segment. I don't think "progress"
increases linearly, it depends on velocity and accel constraints.
But as I understand it "progress" is the distance along the current
path between two G-code points and is used to compute the next
position to send to the motors-position-cmd pins.
