Yes, there's overlap.  MT Connect builds on the ISO 13399 standard.

However, MTConnect is a 'read only' protocol so it can't be used for data
synchronization.

I would really like loobric to support MTConnect for data gathering. Though
I haven't even thought about what that means yet.
