Oh yes, there is.

You don't just rate your product willy-nilly whatever you want.  You
have to prove it by loading it appropriately and testing it with that
load;-- if you pass, then you can rate it accordingly.

If you can load your laptop to 1001W and pass your safety tests, then
you can rate it at 1001W;-- more power to you!
