Iso-propyyl alcohol (or isopropanol) can be purchased un-adulturated at a
95-97% (due to its hygroscopic affinity) concentration level as "I.P.A." from
many chemical suppliers as I have. It is C(3)H(8)O and non-potable. When
reduced to 70% it may be called rubbing alcohol, but, rubbing alcohol can also
be made from denatured ethanol (or wood alcohol (methanol) mixed with grain
alcohol (ethanol)). So, if it is IPA you want, do not use rubbing alcohol
because you won't know what it is unless you read the label but you will be
sure that it is 70%!!
