Hi Folks Just a few clarifications a) The UK exemption to the EMC Directive applies only to purely military equipment, but not to commercial equipment used in a miiltary environment or to "dual use" equipment for both military and commercial use. Therefore, it would be correct for a customer to ask for CISPR 22 (or more precisely EN55022) test data, but - as stated below - it would be more appropriate for him to request test data to DEF Stan 59-41 if the PSU is for a "real" military application.
b) According to the UK EMC Regs, the exemption is at the "discretion of the Secretary of State for Defence" - so it is not theoretically "automatic" (although I have yet to encounter an MOD person who argues that it is effectively is) c) There is no exemption under any of the other CE Marking Directives unless that exemption exists in the original text of the Directive itself (which it does in the Machinery Directive, the R&TTE Directive, etc) Regards John Allen Technical Consultant Electromagnetics, Safety and Reliability Group ERA Technology Ltd Cleeve Rd Leatherhead Surrey KT22 7SA Tel: +44 (0) 1372-367025 (Direct) +44 (0) 1372-367000 (Switchboard) Fax: +44 (0) 1372-367102 (Fax) (but sent from my home email address!) ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, October 30, 2002 8:29 PM Subject: RE: CE marking/testing of military equipment > > Patrick, > > The UK military has their own standard for EMC.
