Agree, it was very general statement. I know the EMC directive does not
have this requirement. I was thinking along the lines of our products which
fall under the R&TTED. You are also right in that the directive does not
require the D of C to be the User manual, but it is required in the
documentation that is shipped with the product, and for us it is easier to
inclde it withthe other rgegulatory stuff tha is in the user guide.

Doug, I respectfully disagree with your general statement that "A copy of
the D of C that states the directives complied with must be placed in the
user manual." There may be a particular directive that may have this
requirement, but I don't beleive that it is the LV, EMC nor the RTTE
Directives. The RTTE Directive does require that a copy of the DoC be
included with the product, but there is no requirement that it be included
in the user manual.

And the answer is........................
The D of C must be signed by the responsible person designated by the
manufacturer. The signatory does not have to be located in the EU.
The manufacturer must designate a representative in the EU who will hold
the certificate and the technical file. This could be an agent,
distributor.
A copy of the D of C that states the directives complied with must be
placed in the user manual. Note, this does not have to be signed, but it
must state where the signed original can be obtained. i.e. the EU
representative's contact details.

on the D of C, and should they be located on European soil.
