I read in !emc-pstc that lfresea...@aol.com wrote (in <7a.439a5e0a.2c3ad c...@aol.com>) about 'cable maximization - do you or don't you??' on Mon, 7 Jul 2003: > I've often wondered what would happen if the FCC ( for example ) > had under cover engineers that took products barely passing to test > labs. Specifically, what the results would be :-) > The repeatability of many EMC tests is such that if they took products that passed by a fair margin to another lab, they might not pass. This is particularly relevant to cable maximization. Unless you lay out the cables in EXACTLY the same way for each test (within a centimetre or so in some cases), the results WILL be different - maybe better, maybe worse. The proof of that is a case of 'res ipsa'. If moving the cables had little effect, no-one would bother about maximization or the converse. -- Regards, John Woodgate, OOO - Own Opinions Only. http://www.jmwa.demon.co.uk Interested in professional sound reinforcement and distribution?
