John & Friends

You can find this Report, and most others of a similar numbering system and
nature, listed on the BSI Standards On-Line website
http://bsonline.techindex.co.uk/;

Typing "R079-001" into the search engine results in "PD 6608:1998, CENELEC
Report R079-001:1998 Guide to achieving compliance with EC directives for
alarm systems". It costs £20 to BSI members & £40 to non-members (PDF &
paper versions).

There is also an earlier version "PD 6608:1997, CENELEC Report R079-001:1996
Guide to achieving compliance with EC directives for alarm systems" (paper
version only)

I have used this method before and it is VERY quick - took 3 minutes to get
the above, and if your company is a subscriber to the BSI on-line standards
system you can then download the PDF's PDQ!

I read in !emc-pstc that Kevin Harris <[email protected]> wrote (in
<[email protected]>) about
'Security Camera' on Mon, 12 Jan 2004:
>According to R079-001:1998 "Guide to achieving compliance with EC directives
>for Alarm Systems" prepared by TC 79, you may choose either standard for

It is generally very difficult to obtain these CENELEC reports, even if
you know they exist. Searching the CENELEC web site is a good way of
wasting several hours.
