SNIP >Thanks. >Tim Pierce The owners and users of the $10,000 HP-85869 software are true orphans. We use unsupported HP software on "obsolete" and unsupported HP hardware. Indeed, Agilent kissed goodbye to the regulatory compliance market a couple of years ago. Some of us even use ancient HP-9836 or Series 300 "controllers". Our "newest" computers are running Win 98SE (with 486's or maybe a Pentium 1). We are truly very alone. Despite these agonies, if you have lived with the hardware / software this long, you probably have come to accept you fate (translation: capital budgets ain't what they used to be, and don't mess with something that works). And there are some interesting benefits, like having your own copy the world's best and most feature-rich Basic (there's wondrous graphics, array handling and IEEE-488 capabilities under the hood). I propose that we need a forum for HP-85869 users. As what may transpire may not always be flattering to certain companies, this should be an independent & private forum, with no linkages to EMC-PSTC. I would suggest that Yahoo Groups can fill this requirement, and I would be willing to set up a closed Group for this purpose. (In a Yahoo private Group, members only can search photo, file storage and email post archives.) I would image that the forum would have very low volume email. So let's see how bright of an idea this is; email me OFF-LIST at [email protected] to discuss this.
