Are you on the AntenneX discussion list? We have been analyzing BLP and
have decided that the FCC measurement method is hopelessly flawed. The
FCC method calls for a vertically oriented loop at a 1 meter height.
But, the major radiation (from sims) shows it being horizontally
polarized and 20 dB higher at 10 meters (where a ham antenna is likely
to be). Even if the method is changed to use a horizontal loop at 10
meters, FCC part 15.209 still allows such a high field that it could
render the HF bands useless.

Hello Jack,

We use shielded loop antennas for measuring inductive loop systems
operating
between 40 kHz and 8 MHz.  We have Electro-Metrics and ETS-Lindgren
loops.
In this frequency range, we have found it to be important to have a
measurement site free of metallic objects, i.e., no ground plane, buried
utilities (including re-enforced drainage pipes), buried trash etc.  The
signal ends up coupling to the metallic objects and corrupting the
roll-off
factor, influencing the repeatability of the measurement. Pre-amp, high
pass
filters, and appropriate RBW (if you have to worry about pulsing
characteristics) help to obtain a low level signal and harmonic
measurement.

MHz.

The usage will be for a study of radiation from a BPL (PLC) system.
